Online Creative Writing Programme (Ages 12-14) – April 22

The next one will begin in October 2022, and I will open for registrations in the first week of September.
These writing courses are conducted just twice a year – in April and in October. Each course is 12 weeks long and comprises twelve online interactions and access to a private, secure forum, where participants share work and give feedback to one another. In this sense, it is an intensive programme that requires participants to log in at least four times a week and write regularly. In addition to weekly assignments, participants are encouraged to share relevant ideas and opinions at each stage.
If I have a minimum of four participants for each batch, I also organize guest sessions, which are open to non-participants on payment of a registration fee, but free for those who are part of my programmes. Outline
While each creative writing course deals with some aspects of writing, the details of each one – including activities, assignments and literature we read – are different. This time, we will attempt to create one issue of a magazine together. A magazine puts together all kinds of literature, which will allow us to work on a variety of forms, including poetry, letters, nonfiction and stories. As we put these together, here are a few things we will work on.
- Purpose – What is the purpose of what I’m writing? Am I saying something new? Or is what I am writing interesting?
- Editing – How do we edit and proofread our work? How important is it to submit work that is error-free?
- Feedback and objectivity – With the participants themselves taking control of what will go into the magazine we put together, we will look more closely at everyone’s writing, understanding the merits of one another’s work and learning to give and receive constructive feedback.
