Online Creative Writing Programme (Ages 9-11) – April 22

The next one will begin in October 2022, and I will open for registrations in the first week of September.
These writing courses are conducted just twice a year – in April and in October. Each one is 12 weeks long and comprises twelve online interactions and access to a private, secure forum, where participants share work and provide feedback to one another. In this sense, it is an intensive programme that requires participants to log in multiple times a week, write regularly and participate on the forum. In addition to weekly assignments, participants are encouraged to share relevant ideas and opinions at each stage.
If I have a minimum of four participants for each batch, I also organize guest sessions, which are open to non-participants on payment of a registration fee, but free for those who are part of my programmes. Outline
Each writing programme deals with some aspects of writing. We’ve worked with poetry, drama, nonfiction and stories in the past. This time, we will attempt to create one issue of a magazine together. This will allow us to explore a variety of literature and work on a range of forms, including poetry, letters, nonfiction and stories. As we put pieces together, here are a few things we will work on.
- Poems – Who reads poetry and why? Am I saying something new and interesting? What will make my poem stand out?
- Editing – How do we edit and proofread our work? How important is it to submit work that is error-free?
- Working on feedback – The children will work together to make their writing reach its best potential. They will edit their own work and take control of what goes into the magazine we put together. As we do this, we will look more closely at everyone’s writing, understanding the merits of one another’s work and learning to give and receive constructive feedback.
