Read, Write, Explore is an ongoing reading and creative writing programme for ages nine and ten. During the twelve online interactions of each edition, we read excerpts from three books. Unlike at my book club for ages seven and eight, we devote less class time to reading aloud and more to activities and writing. Additionally, one class every two weeks focuses on creative writing. Do note that this means that even though we read excerpts in class, most of the reading happens independently!

This programme is designed for children who want just a taste of creative writing but are not (yet) excited about writing regularly. In some ways, it is the best of both worlds–the joy of reading and the fun of creative writing–without the editing and polishing that writing requires.

At Read, Write, Explore in June and July 2024, we will be reading The Mystery of the Silk Umbrella (Asha Nehemiah), No Talking (Andrew Clements) and The Golden Eagle (Deepak Dalal). Click on the book titles for outlines of what we will do as we read.

Dates: 04 June to 11 July 2024

Online interactions: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 to 6:15 pm

Age-group: 9 and 10 years

Early Bird Fee: ₹4,500
