Read, Write, Explore is an ongoing reading and creative writing programme for ages nine and ten. During the eight online interactions of each edition, we read excerpts from three books. Unlike at my book club for ages seven and eight, we devote less class time to reading aloud and more to activities and writing. Additionally, one class every two weeks focuses on creative writing. Do note that this means that even though we read excerpts in class, most of the reading happens independently! 

This programme is designed for children who want just a taste of creative writing but are not (yet) excited about writing regularly. In some ways, it is the best of both worlds–the joy of reading and the fun of creative writing–without the editing and polishing that writing requires. For children who already enjoy writing and are ready to take their writing further, I recommend the intensive online creative writing programme, which I conduct just twice a year.

At Read, Write, Explore in October and November 2023, we will be reading Kolam Kanna (Vibha Batra), Earwig and the Witch (Diana Wynne Jones) and Unfair (Rasil Ahuja). Click on the book titles for outlines of what we will do as we read each one.

Online interactions: Saturdays, 3 pm to 4 pm

Age-group: 9 and 10 years 

Early Bird Fee: ₹4,500

Fee: ₹5,000 (includes the books if you register from India before 25 September)
