Join 'Read, Write, Explore', an online programme that combines the concept of a book club with an introduction to creative writing. During the 12 online interactions, we read excerpts from three books and do activities of all kinds. Every two weeks, one class is devoted to creative writing.
In summer 2023, we will be reading Pinkoo Shergill: Pastry Chef (Vibha Batra), A Boy Called Bat (Elana K. Arnold) and Dungeon Tales (Venita Coelho).
Do note that classes are held on Zoom and there are only nine seats per batch!

Join my book club for ages seven and eight!
During each edition of my book club, we have 12 online interactions (45 minutes each), during which we read excerpts from four books. Based on what we read, we build links with other activities, including listening, performing, writing and critical thinking. Do note that classes are held on Zoom and that there are only nine seats per batch!
In summer 2023, we will be reading Petu Pumpkin: Cheater Peter (Arundhati Venkatesh), The Lizard of Oz and Other Stories (Khyrunnisa A.), Ottoline and the Yellow Cat (Chris Riddell) and The Adventures of Tootsie Lama (Stuti Agarwal).

Stories: Comic-Page Style

We've done a workshop on comics before, but it's time for something new, this time with author Nandita Basu. Nandita is an award winning graphic novelist and a musician. She has written three graphic novels for young adults: The Piano, Rain Must Fall and the soon to be released Starry Starry Night.

Graphic novels are gaining popularity amongst young readers, and naturally, young writers. While writing a graphic novel is, of course, beyond the scope of a one-hour workshop, let's learn how to weave a story through words and pictures in the style of a graphic novel.

How to Tell a Story through a Diary

Playing with form is always fun! There are so many ways to tell a story--as a graphic novel (which was the topic of our previous workshop), in verse (like Uncontrollable), or as a set of letters, either in a diary or to a friend. I love epistolary novels, but writing a story in the form of letters is something I haven't really dealt with at my writing programmes.

That's why I decided to invite Sowmya Rajendran, author of the Mayil series to do a creative writing workshop with us on telling stories through a diary. How do we use diary entries to tell a story? There is a method to the randomness!

'Read, Write, Explore' is an ongoing programme for ages nine and ten, which combines the concept of a book club with an introduction to creative writing. During the twelve online interactions, we read excerpts from three books and do activities of all kinds. Additionally, one class every two weeks focuses on creative writing. Do note that this means that even though we read excerpts in class, most of the reading happens independently! 

In February and March 2024, we will be reading When the World Went Dark (Vibha Batra), An Alien in the Jam Factory (Chrissie Sains) and The Very Glum Life of Tootoolu Toop (Stuti Agarwal). Classes are held online on Zoom, and there are only nine seats per batch!
