Online Book Clubs

Right through the year, I conduct online book clubs for two age-groups: ages 7 and 8, and ages 9 and 10. Each edition comprises twelve 45-minute online interactions. During each class, we read excerpts from a set of curated books. Based on these books, we do activities of all kinds, including creative writing, critical thinking, drama and drawing.

Registrations are now open for the February 2026 edition of my book clubs! We begin on 3 February and end on 12 March 2026. With ages 7 and 8, I will be reading Mahalaxmi Goes to Mysore, Help! My Aai Wants to Eat Me, Amelia Bedelia Goes Wild! and Gobi Goes Viral. With ages 9 and 10, I will be reading Tiger Boy, A Boy Called Bat and The Mystery of the Disappearing Drone.

FAQs

What is the difference between the two programmes?

The book club is for ages seven and eight.

Read, Write, Explore is for ages nine and ten.

Both are online reading programmes, but the length of the book, expected reading level, and kinds of activities are different based on the age-group.

Who should join a programme?

Children who love reading, or children who want to develop a love for reading are welcome to join.

Reading levels vary widely, so I would suggest that you take a quick look at the books before you sign up.

Who should NOT join a programme?
  • Children who struggle with English would not be a good fit for either programme.
  • Children who do not have access to a good internet connection would find it difficult to keep up.
  • For Read, Write, Explore, much of the reading happens independently (not in class), so the children must be willing and able to read independently.
What kinds of books will we read?

The books we read are carefully curated based on the average reading level of children in the age-group, as well as on the activities we can do based on the books.

For ages 7 and 8, the books are typically between 60 and 120 pages long. They have black-and-white illustrations.

For ages 9 and 10, the books are typically between 120 and 250 pages long. A lot of reading happens independently, and most of the books we read have black-and-white illustrations.

What exactly will we do?

We will read excerpts from the books in class. Linked to the stories, we will do several activities, including vocabulary quizzes, drawing, creative writing and role play.

Is there a free trial class?

No, sorry.

Do you offer refunds?

No, sorry. If you are unsure about signing up, you could consider joining my book club to read just one book with me, instead of signing up for the entire programme. Get in touch to learn about the fee. You can also send me a message on Facebook or Instagram.

However, once the fee is paid, it is non-refundable.

What does the fee include?

The fee includes 12 online sessions of 45 minutes each. Until one week before the programme begins, the fee also includes the books, which will be delivered anywhere in India.
