Poetry in Collaboration
April 20, 2023, 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
₹400I love working with poetry at my creative writing programmes. We’ve worked on so many different kinds of poetry over time that it’s time for a fresh perspective. The best way to bring that in is through a guest session!
And that’s why, I’ve invited Sampurna Chattarji, poet, fiction writer, editor, teacher and translator, to conduct a workshop for us. Of Sampurna’s 21 books, nine are for young people. Her collaborative projects include Over and Under Ground in Mumbai and Paris (with Karthika Nair); The Bhyabachyaka and other Wild Poems and Elsewhere Where Else / Lle Arall Ble Arall (both with the Welsh poet Eurig Salisbury). Dirty Love is her book of Bombay stories from Penguin, and Ela: the Girl Who Entered the Unknown her YA novel from Scholastic. The latest of her eleven poetry titles are Space Gulliver: Chronicles of an Alien (HarperCollins 2020) and Unmappable Moves, just out from the Mumbai-based indie-press Poetrywala.
About the Workshop
Can poets collaborate? How? Why? Find out how collaboration can kickstart creativity in ways that writing alone sometimes cannot, through a set of exercises and examples by serial-collaborator, Sampurna Chattarji.
As this is a guest session at my online creative writing programme, it is free for my current participants. However, it is also open to non-participants on payment of a fee.
