In Sarvaloka Public School, children are referred to as ‘future citizens’, but the teachers never ask the students for their opinions. Nine-year-old Dhara sets out to change this. She starts a revolution and convinces the whole school to vote for the first time. But in the chaos of the elections, Dhara loses sight of what’s really important to her.

Any book that makes me tear up gets an extra star from me and boy, did I want to jump right into the pages and give Dhara, Carol and Chandra ma’am a group hug! Undoubtedly a 5-star read!

This book is great to introduce the power of choice and voting to children. Chandra ma’am cites an example in the beginning, of how the school uniform was changed because students wanted it. Varsha Seshan’s writing is brilliant, and one feels as though they are with Dhara while reading the book. Tanvi Bhat’s captivating illustrations add charm to a beautiful story.

I absolutely love this story where kids had freedom to share their thoughts and teachers were so supportive to listen to them. Teachers encouraged them to think out of the box, do voting and gave them liberty to decide what they wanted. Dhara and Carol’s friendship is so adorable.
